executive desk

Crafted of walnut solids and panels with maple highlights, this Art Deco inspired desk was designed for the Federal Commissioner on Developmental Disabilities.  The client has Cerebral Palsy, and was required by his doctor to work in the standing and sitting positions during the day.  The design accommodates these needs with a motorized section, operated with a brass push switch, that will raise and lower to the desired work height.  A powered chain drive mechanism designed by fellow designer Riley Hawkins was incorporated into the walnut desk top for smooth and quiet action.

The desk was featured in the May/June 1995 issue of Custom Woodworking Business magazine article "Executive Desk Fullfills Special Needs in Style".
